This makes a lot of cents. A man in Missouri paid $500,000 in insurance money using tons of quarters! Roger Herrin was apparently protesting a court order that forced him to repay the insurance money he had received for the death of his son. Herrin’s teenage son was the only one of four passengers who died in a car crash in 2001, and because of that, Herrin had received the bulk of the $800,000 insurance settlement. The other crash victims and their families contested this, and won. So to stick it to the court, Herrin paid approximately a third of the money back in quarters – a haul that weighed nearly four tons and caused a whole lot of inconvenience. But it could have been worse. "I really wanted to do it in pennies,” Herrin said.
