Charlottesville officials confirmed a car crashed into a group of pedestrians near the downtown mall.  Police said the crash happened near the intersection of Fourth and Water streets.

The mayor has confirmed 1 has died.  19 were injured.

Governor McAuliffe had declared a state of emergency just before noon, when the rally was supposed to start.
