Amttak says one person is dead and two crew members and two passengers were hurt after a train carrying lawmakers collided with a truck in Crozet earlier today.
One lamaker said there were about 100 GOP lawmakers on the train at the time of the crash, about two hours into their trip. Minnesota Representative Jason Lewis was taken to a hospital with a concussion after the crash, according to his Twitter.
UPDATE: 12:30pm EST
The White House is confirming there is one fatality and one serious injury, but that no members of Congress or there staffs are among the injured.
Reports are that someone in the garbage truck died at the scene.
House Speaker Paul Ryan was on the train. An aide confirmed this information. There has also been confirmation that most of the staff and congressional members on the train are okay.

Several Republican Congress members, along with staff, were on board an Amtrak train that has crashed near Charlottesville, Virginia. They were headed to the Greenbrier in West Virginia when the train hit a garbage truck.
