February 27, 2018 - Jaimee Hairston was on her way to a basketball game when she stopped at the Fast Shop on East Church Street in Martinsville to get a drink. "I was in line waiting at the register and I thought, 'Maybe I should try a ticket,'" Jamiee said.
Hairston purchased a $32,000 Cash Pay Out game from the Virginia Lottery. While in her car, she scratched the ticket to reveal the $750,000 top prize.
“I just threw the ticket down on the floor because I didn’t believe it,” she said.
Hairston picked the ticket back up when she got home and realized she had really won.
“I couldn’t believe it!” she said.
Jaimee is the first person to claim the top prize, which means three $750,000 prizes remain unclaimed in the game.
She shared with ABC-13 WSET that she has no immediate plans for her winnings.
