$190K worth of drugs recovered; 44 charged in 8-month investigation

After an eight-month long investigation, 19 people have been arrested in a large drug bust, according to the Norfolk Police Department.

Police said a total of 44 people are charged with 39 facing state charges and five facing federal charges.

12 of the suspects charged are involved in gang activity, which police said it a major focus of the investigation.

Police said officers recovered 11 ounces of heroin, three pounds of cocaine, three pounds of marijuana, 24 ecstasy pills, and nine grams of meth worth $190,000.

Investigators also took 12 guns and more than $85,000 in cash.

Police said they are still looking for two fugitives Needham Wilder, 50, wanted for distribution of a controlled substance and Timothy Pope, 35, wanted for distribution of marijuana.
