Heavy police presence in Pulaski - Reported Shooting

Update: 7:55pm: Police say they have one suspect in custody.

Update 7:30 PM

According to  Captain Andy Anderson with Town of Pulaski Police:

Shots were fired around 4 PM today at Washington Square Apartments in Pulaski.  The individual who fired the shots has not yet been identified, but is described as a young black male, with dreadlocks. Anderson says someone gave the individual a ride to the area where police are now conducting the man hunt.  Police continue to follow up on all leads.  If you have information about this individual, call 911. Otherwise, police advise residents of Pulaski area to stay inside, with doors locked.  Stay vigilant, and stay safe.


Update 6:50 PM

Reports are that a shooting happened at about 3:45 pm Thursday and that two elementary schools, Pulaski County middle school and Pulaski County High School, all within a 3-mile radius of the shooting, were placed on lock-down.  The elementary schools and middle school were all let out with the help of police,  and students were sent home.  All evening events at all of those schools have been canceled.


PULASKI COUNTY- VIRGINIA - Multiple police agencies are responding to an incident in Pulaski off Bob White Boulevard near the intersection of Peak's View and Bainbridge Drive.

Police observed going down behind the apartments with guns drawn.  Police have not confirmed why they are surrounding the building.  Local resident says she heard shots fired from what sounded like the direction of the apartment building.

All evening activities at the area schools have been cancelled.
