Bedford motorcycle chase reaches speeds of 90 mph covering 89 miles

May 30, 2018 - The Bedford County Sheriff's Office said two people have been arrested after a motorcycle chase through Bedford County this morning.

The sheriff's office said a deputy saw a motorcycle with two people on it going south on Route 221 around 1:10 a.m., speeding, and didn't stop at the red light at the intersection of Perrowville Road.

The deputy tried to pull the motorcycle over, but the driver tried to feel through Bedford County and then through Lynchburg.

Officials said the driver, Matthew Waltz, 29, of Roseland reached speeds of 90 miles per hour and drove 89 miles during the chase.

Waltz ended up crashing on Greenwood Street in the Town of Bedford at 2:20 a.m. where he and his passenger, Alisha B. Carroll, 29, of Forest fled on foot.
