Police found over 20 people inside a Petersburg home, discovered to be a nightclub known as "Side Pocket".
WRVR reports officers of the Alcohol Beverage Control, Virginia State Police and the Petersburg Bureau of Police executed a search warrant in connection to illegal alcohol sales taking place from an unlicensed establishment.
The search took place on June 2 in the 1600 block of Montpelier Road.
In addition to illegal alcohol sales, police said strippers were performing in the basement and food was being sold, along with other suspected illegal activity.
According to officials, the "Side Pocket" was a popular members-only club for Virginia State University students and the partying rarely started before 2 a.m.
“This type of activity will not be tolerated in the City of Petersburg. The Petersburg Bureau will utilize all resources available to remove this type of activity from our communities,” Lieutenant Emanuel Chambliss with the Petersburg Police Department said.
