Two men died in separate incidents while swimming off Cape Hatteras Seashore Wednesday, withing hours of each other.

The first incident was Wednesday morning, around 10 a.m., when police said a 55-year-old North Carolina man was swimming in the water and got swept away from a sandbar near Frisco, police said it's possible he got caught in a rip current.

The National Park Service said a bystander tried to swim out and help the man, but didn't make it in time.
