Downtown Lynchburg Launches Adopt A Block Program

The Downtown Lynchburg Association (DLA) launched the Adopt a Block program with the intent of encouraging citizens, groups and organizations to help keep Downtown Lynchburg clean and beautiful one block at a time.

They are asking for people to help reduce litter, combat graffiti, tackle weeks, and help create a welcoming environment in Downtown.

Each block is available to be adopted and you can adopt as many as you'd like.

Responsibilities include checking your block for litter and, if needed, scheduling pickups with the DLA, cataloging and reporting graffiti, and coordinating with businesses to make sure they keep their storefronts neat.

The DLA is asking for a one-year commitment. They will a cleanup kit, gloves and bags as needed and information materials for you to distribute to the businesses on your block.

If you would like to learn more, visit the DLA website or attend the Adopt-a-Block Information Session on June 26, 5:30pm - 6pm at Grassroots Local Market
