Alexis Murphy's cousin charged with killing his girlfriend

June 25, 2018 - Charlottesville Police have arrested and charged 23-year-old Xavier Murphy with the second-degree murder of Tatiana Wells.  He was also charged with possession of a firearm.

Trina Murphy, the aunt of Alexis Murphy, said Xavier is her son.  She posted on Facebook after the shooting.  "A beautiful woman's life cut short by a violent relationship.  The only twist today is it's my child on the other side of the gun.  My son is the perpetrator. The very thing I advocate against has been committed by someone I once carried inside me."

Many will remember the murder of 17-year-old Alexis who went missing in August of 2013.  Randy Taylor was arrested and charged with her murder.  Her aunt, Trina, is an advocate with "Help Save the Next Girl," a non-profit created by the parents of Morgan Harrington, who was found dead in November 2009, to help end violence against women.
