Vehicles stolen at Lynchburg auto shop, 1 found after a hit-and-run

June 26, 2018 - The Lynchburg Police Department is asking for information after two vehicles were stolen from a local business over the weekend.

Police said at some point between Saturday and Sunday, June 23-24, a suspect broke into Slayton's Automotive on Fort Avenue in Lynchburg and took a lockbox that had keys to vehicles.

Two vehicles were stolen, according to police, including a red 2011 Ford Edge with tag WWV-3240 and a white 2009 Hyundai Sonata with tag WZG-3459.

Police said later on Sunday, June 24 the Sonata was located as part of a hit and run in the Birchwood apartment complex off Hill Street.

They said the person driving the vehicle fled the scene.

The Ford Edge has not been located.
