Christiansburg man struck officer, fled on foot before being arrested

June 27, 2018 - Pulaski Police responded to a disturbance call on Altoona Road early Monday, June 25.  They said the call came in at around 4:45 a.m.

According to police, an officer encountered a vehicle in the driveway which was being operated by a female and a male standing outside of the passenger door apparently attempting to enter the vehicle.

Officials said the officer directed the female to turn the vehicle off and approached the second individual.

During the questioning of the male individual, he dropped a small package which the officer recognized as being consistent with illegal narcotics.

Police said the man also showed characteristics indicating intoxication.

The officer attempted to detain the individual but he escaped, struck the officer, and then fled on foot.

According to officials, the male suspect was later located and arrested.
