Man arrested after stabbing girl and her father at Roanoke ice cream parlor

July 13, 2018 - A Roanoke man is in jail after police said he stabbed a girl and her father.

Police said two officers were called to Piedmont Street at Walnut Avenue around 10:00 p.m. last night about a stabbing in progress at the Blue Cow Ice Cream parlor at the intersection.

Police said the suspect, identified as Jordan Ornes, 26, was outside the store with a knife.

Ornes told police that he was at the store to speak with a girl.

The girl and her father were then stabbed several times by Ornes during a struggle, police said.

They said a bystander tried to intervene by hitting Ornes with a chair and at that point he left the store and was arrested by responding officers.
