Let me kick this off by being perfectly honest with you. I never thought I'd see the day where I found myself excited for a DC Comics movie.
Yet here I am anxiously awaiting the release of "Shazam" on April 5, 2019 and for the first time, you will find me in the theater for the very first showing of a DC movie.
Going into the 2018 San Diego Comic Con, or SDCC, fans knew we were getting a teaser. When they said teaser though I expected something along the lines of what "Doctor Who" gave us and it be less than a minute since "Aquaman" comes out later this year.
They gave us so much more.
The trailer kicks off with Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, being placed into yet another foster home. He is then introduced to Freddie Freeman, played by Jack Dylan Grazer, and see pieces of the incident where Billy becomes Shazam.
Zachary Levi brings the title character to life and we even get a glimpse of the "magic word" and the transformation from Billy to Shazam.
This trailer quickly tells you that DC Comics has heard the grumblings of its fanbase and is delivering what looks to be a comedy. There aren't a lot of plot details as the trailer focuses more on the origin story aspects of the movie but there is one frame that teases something more.
