A Virginia teen has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping and strangling a 14-year-old girl in 2018.
The Roanoke Times reports that Michael Mendoza, 18, pleaded guilty on Monday, July 23, 2018, to rape and strangulation as part of a please deal that dropped six other charges against Mendoza.
Commonwealth's Attorney Chris Rehak says Mendoza, the girl, and several other teens were smoking marijuana together at a house last November. Rehak says Mendoza made a sexual advance on the girl, who turned him down.
