July 27, 2018 - A 15-year-old has been charged after a 16-year-old was shot in Roanoke County on Sunday, July 22.
Roanoke County Police said the shooting may have been accidental, but there are elements of the gun possession/handling that were deemed criminal in nature through the course of the investigation.
The 15-year-old was charged with reckless handling of a firearm, juvenile possession of a firearm, and shooting inside an occupied dwelling.
Police said officers responded to a home in the 5700 block of Oakland Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22 for a reported medical emergency.
The teen was taken to the hospital by Roanoke County Fire and Rescue with a potential life-threatening injury.
