VA State Police Investigating Deputy-Involved Shooting in Montgomery County

Virginia State Police continue to investigate a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Saturday in Montgomery County.

Taylor K.E. Tincher, 18, came at Montgomery County deputies with a handgun at a residence in the 900 block of Walton Road.  Despite ordering him to stop, Tincher continued to approach officers.  Deputies then fired at Tincher.

He was transported to the New River Valley Medical Center where he later died.

Michelle Tincher, mother of the victim, said she called 911 because her son needed medical attention. She did not elaborate on what was wrong with him.

The two deputies involved are currently on paid administrative leave.

State Police say once their investigation is complete, they will give their findings to the Commonwealth's Attorney for final review.
