Roanoke Woman Killed By Family Member She Had Protective Order Against

The Roanoke Police Department said they are investigating a homicide  after a woman was found dead in a home with a 20-year-old man.

Police said they were called to 3533 Ferncliff Avenue NW on Thursday, August 30 around 11:30 a.m. for a well-being check.

When crews with the Roanoke Fire-EMS got to the scene, they said there was no response.

Officers  then made entry into the home and found 64-year-old Charlotte Brewster  in a bedroom along with 20-year-old Dontae Brown.

Police said  Brewster had injuries consistent with an assault and Brown was arrested  for violation of a protective order for a prior incident involving  Brewster and Brown.

Brewster was taken to the hospital where she died the next day.

They say Brewster and Brown are related.
