Father, Son Aressted After Assualting Bedford Deputy

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office said a father and son have been arrested after one of them kicked a deputy that tried to arrest him.

The sheriff's office said while a deputy was conducting a traffic stop on Route 460 West in Bedford around 11:30 p.m., they saw a dark vehicle going east at a high rate of speed.

They later found it on Irving Road, with a broken wheel and flat tire.

The sheriff's office said when deputies tried to arrest the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Russell K. Orange, III, he resisted and kicked one of the deputies in the ribs.

He was finally arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and felonious assault of a police officer.

Orange's father, 59-year-old Russell K. Orange, Jr., was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
