Man Killed After Vehicle Malfunction Caused Crash in Franklin County

FRANKLIN Co., Va. (WSET) -- Police are investigating a crash in Franklin County that left one man dead.

They said the crash occurred Wednesday night around 11:20 p.m. on Briarpatch Lane, two miles west of Route 724.

According to police, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling on Briarpatch Lane when it had a mechanical failure, which caused the vehicle to run off the right side of the roadway and overturn.

They said the driver was attempting to exit the unstable vehicle after the crash, but became trapped when it shifted.

The victim, Kenneth David Wade, 45, of Rocky Mount, Va, died at the scene.
