Liberty University's campus will remain open during Hurricane Florence, but classes will be cancelled starting Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
School officials made the call due to Virginia and the City of Lynchburg declaring a state of emergency.
Liberty has urged their faculty, staff and students to seek shelter for the duration of the storm.
Liberty's campus will remain open for students to stay and seek shelter. Officials say the college's geographic location and building infrastructure have allowed it to serve as a shelter from during natural disasters. Florence will be no different.
