Here's Why You'll Get A Presidential Alert On Your Phone Wednesday

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission are going to test the nationwide Emergency Alert System tomorrow afternoon.

At 2:18 EST, you will hear a loud tone and vibration and a message will appear on your phone.

The message will say “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

"The EAS is a national public warning system that provides the President with the capability to address the nation during a national emergency." The FEMA news release said.

All phones that are on and have providers registered are capable of receiving the "Presidential Alert" text.
