The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a* Flash Flood Warning for...Roanoke County in west central Virginia...The City of Salem in west central Virginia...The City of Roanoke in west central Virginia...* Until 845 PM EDT Thursday* 

At 238 PM EDT, emergency management reported extreme floodingacross the warned area. Up to 6 inches of rain have already fallenin some areas with numerous swift water rescues and evacuations.This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for the Roanoke Metro area! This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION!* 

Some locations that will experience flooding include...Roanoke...Salem...Vinton...Catawba...and Bent Mountain.In addition, the Roanoke River at Roanoke is forecast to reach Majorflood stage later today with a stage over 16 feet.
