Suspect Arrested After Barricade Situation at Roanoke County House

The suspect in yesterday's incident on Elbert Drive is identified as Earl Maston Pugh, III.  He is 37-years-old and resided at the residence in the 1800 block of Elbert Drive.

Police officers were attempting to execute a warrant to Pugh for violation of probation outside of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Following yesterday's incident, Pugh has been charged with obstruction of justice.

A man who barricaded himself inside a Cave Spring area house yesterday was taken into custody following a four hour standoff, according to the Roanoke County Police Department.

The incident began when officers say they were trying to arrest someone in the 1800 block of Elbert Drive on Thursday, October 25, 2018, around 12:30 p.m. The street was blocked off by police and neighbors were evacuated during the incident.

The man, who has not been identified, refused to come out of the house and proceeded to barricade himself inside.  Additional police units and a SWAT team were called in to assist.

Ultimately, police used tear gas to get the man out of the house and no shots were fired.  No one else was inside the house and the suspect and all law enforcement personnel were unharmed.

Police say they have responded to the house on several occasions before for drug usage.
