Two juveniles were taken to the hospital after they set a warning fire in an abandoned home in Roanoke Tuesday morning.
The Roanoke Fire Department responded to smoke around 8:50am around the 1700 block of Downing Street. There was heavy smoke coming from the house.
They found a person asleep in a first floor closet and were able to help that person escape without injuries.
The juveniles admitted to starting the fire on the second floor to keep warm. They were transported to the hospital and are being treated for smoke inhalation. Both are expected to be okay.
No firefighter was injured fighting the fire and it is unknown how much damage was caused.
