Power Outage In Downtown Roanoke Leaves Many Without Power

Power has been restored in downtown Roanoke after a two-hour outage.

City officials say a squirrel got into a substation which caused power to go out for more than 500 Appalachian Power company customers.

Hundreds are without power in Downtown Roanoke Monday morning.

According to the City, the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building has been impacted by a power outage in the downtown district.

As a result of the outage, city services are not available in the City Treasurer's Office, Commissioner of the Revenue Office, Court Services Unit, and Permit Center, as well as other offices in the building.

The Main Library is closed and will remain closed until power is restored.

There is no word on restoration times.
