Virginia State Police and the Youth of Virginia Speak Out (YOVASO) are sponsoring a campaign aimed to reduce teen fatalities during the holiday season -- which has become a high-risk time for young drivers.
The campaign, called "Steer Into the New Year - Buckle Up and Drive Safely" kicks off this week.
According to the Virginia DMV Highway Safety Office, over the last three years during the month of December, 22 teens between the ages of 15-20 have died in motor vehicle crashes in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The office also stated that 1,964 were injured.
