RIP: Captain

“The Captain” from Captain and Tennille has passed away. TMZ reports that Darryl Dragon died early yesterday from renal failure in Arizona. He was 76.

Dragon, a keyboardist, married singer Toni Tennille in 1975 and as Captain and Tennille they were best known for their 70s hits like “Do That To Me One More Time,” “Love Will Keep Us Together” “Muskrat Love” and more. The duo had five albums that were certified gold or platinum, and they even hosted their own variety show on ABC from 1976 to 1977.

The couple’s marriage ended in 2014 but they were still friends, and Toni was reportedly with him when he passed. In a statement she called Daryl “a brilliant musician with many friends who loved him greatly,” adding, “I was at my most creative in my life, when I was with him."
