RIP: George Welsh

Former Virginia football George Welsh has died, his family announced on Friday. He was 85 years old.

Welsh, who coached at Virginia from 1982-2000, died on Wednesday, according to a school release.

Welsh is the most successful  coach in UVa football history. During his 19 years at the helm, the Cavaliers compiled a record of 134-86-3 and shared two ACC titles. Welsh  retired from coaching in 2000 as the winningest coach in ACC history.
