Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell Files For Divorce

Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has filed for divorce nearly five years after his federal corruption trial.

McDonnell was the first governor of Virginia to ever be convicted of a crime. He was sentenced to two years in prison and two years probation in 2014 for public corruption.

The former governor and his wife, Maureen, were found guilty of accepting more than $165,000 in gifts and loans from the former CEO of a dietary supplements maker in exchange for promoting his company's products.

McDonnell's defense said most of the blame was on his wife and said he didn't know about the gifts she was receiving.

During the trial, he spoke about his shaky marriage and said he and Maureen were living apart.
