On January 6, 2019, just before 10:30 p.m., Roanoke Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Gett Mark located in the 1100 block of Main Street, S.W. in the Wasena area of the city.
Officers were advised that an adult male had entered the store and brandished a firearm demanding money. The subject then took money from the cash register drawer and left the scene.
Responding officers were able to locate a subject in the immediate area of the store and after further investigation, it was determined that the individual was the subject involved in the robbery.
The investigation resulted in Donte Trent, 29, of Roanoke, being charged with Robbery. Detectives are consulting with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office to determine additional charges.
Authorities say that Trent has a rap sheet including attempted robbery, attempted malicious wounding and possession of marijuana.
No one was injured in the incident and the stolen money and firearm used in the robbery were recovered.
