A Salem father accused of assaulting a school bus driver is facing new charges.
The father, who claims the bus driver inappropriately touched his daughter, was facing an assault and battery charge.
New charges were filed today because, according to City of Salem spokesperson, Mike Stevens, the commonwealth's attorney determined that the original charge was not appropriate for the offense and it's against the law to amend a charge from a misdemeanor to a felony.
The new charges that the father is now facing are:
- One Felony Count of Malicious Wounding
- Two Misdemeanor Counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
- One Misdemeanor Count of Trespassing on a School Bus
The father is being held without bond in the Roanoke County/Salem Jail.
