17-Year-Old Turns Himself In; Charged With Murdering 32-Year-Old Man

The Henry County Sheriff's Office said they have arrested a 17-yea-0old and charged him with murdering a 32-year-old man this past weekend.

Authorities said Eric Montequilla Barksdale, 32 was found suffering from a gunshot wound on his porch on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

Deputies responded to Barksdale's home on Rivermont Heights Road in Martinsville in reference to shots fired. said their investigation revealed that Barksdale and the 17-year-old got into an argument and then the boy shot Barksdale before running away.

The teenager was charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm.

Investigators said the teen turned himself in Tuesday and is being held in the W.W. Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention Home located in Danville.
