Fincastle Truck Fire. Driver swerved to miss deer causing massive fire

The Troutville Volunteer Fire Department said Route 220 in Botetourt County was shut down in both directions due to a fire caused by a fuel tanker overturning Wednesday morning around 6:15 a.m.

The fire department said the truck left the road, ruptured its trailer, and caught fire in the 2700 block of Botetourt Road in Fincastle.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle.

State Police said the truck was hauling approximately 8,000 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel that caught fire.

The driver, James Willard Yarbrough, Jr., of Stuart, said he swerved to miss a deer and ended up crashing.
