Ruptured fuel truck on fire threatening structures in Botetourt County

The Troutville Volunteer Fire Department said Route 220 in Botetourt County is shut down in both directions due to a fire caused by a fuel tanker overturning.

The fire department said the truck left the road, ruptured its trailer, and caught fire in the 2700 block of Botetourt Road in Fincastle.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle.

Fire crews said it's estimated the 8500 gallons of fuel started to burn, flowing downhill, and is now threatening structures in the area.

Please avoid the area is possible.
