Virginia man indicted for threatening Senator Mark Warner

A Virginia Beach man has been indicted for threatening Senator Mark Warner.

According to court documents, Anthony Butkiewicz, III, left "several threatening voicemails" at Warner's Richmond office.

The voicemails threatened violence against the Senator, and in one message Butkiewicz said he would work with Lee Boyd Malvo, one of the DC snipers.

One of the less vulgar messages said:

I would personally like to stand face to face with you and I will punch you in the jaw! And you can lock me up and put me in jail, my friend! I ain’t got a problem with it.

Last week a grand jury indicted Butkiewicz for one count of threatening Warner.

According to the documents, his hearing was scheduled for yesterday, February 26, 2019, but prosecutors asked that he be detained until the future trial due to his threats.
