Lynchburg woman charged with animal cruelty

Lynchburg Police have charged a woman with animal cruelty after a dog was found Saturday strangled on its tether.

Police said they responded to the 100-block of Carnell Lane after a neighbor reported the incident.

They said later that afternoon, Lynchburg Animal Control responded to further assess the welfare of the dog.

Based the investigation, animal control seized the dog and to it to a veterinarian for assessment and possible treatment.

It was determined that the dog did not suffer from long-term significant injuries from the incident.

Police said the dog was then taken to the Lynchburg Humane Society where it is being monitored.

According to officer, a misdemeanor warrant of Animal Cruelty was obtained for 36-year-old Emily Rebecca Hubbard , who is the dog's owner.
