Police have identified property damage connected to fatal hit and run

UPDATE: The Roanoke Police Department reports that it has been made aware of property damage at the Council of Community Services Building relating to the fatal hit and run of Linda Pierson and are investigating the incident.

At this time, they do not have a person of interest identified in this case. Evidence found on the vehicle has been sent to the state forensics lab for testing. At this time, no arrests have been made. We are working with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office.


On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Roanoke Police responded to the intersection of 5th Street and Campbell Avenue, S.W. in regard to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located a female victim, later identified as Linda Pierson, 58, of Roanoke, lying on the sidewalk near the intersection. She was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire-EMS, where she died from her injuries.

At this time, police are investigating the incident as a fatal hit and run. No arrests have been made.
