Two people hurt after stolen car crashed during chase in Lynchburg

The Lynchburg Police Department says an attempted traffic stop led to a chase and then a crash in the city.

Around 8:11 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a call for service involving a white 2011 Kia Sedona that had been stolen from the 2100-block of 12th Street.

LPD officers saw the vehicle still in the area and initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle at Park Avenue and Kemper Street.

The vehicle fled the scene before contact could be made with the driver by the officers.

While attempting to elude the officers, the vehicle failed to stop for the traffic light at Fort Avenue and Campbell Avenue.

Police say, the suspect vehicle struck a Silver Chrysler 300 while in the intersection.

The driver of the Chrysler sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash.
